Christopher Michael Mezzavilla

Christopher Michael Mezzavilla, fondly known to many as "Mezz", passed away on May 1st, 2024 after a courageous battle with melanoma. Chris was a cherished husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend to many who loved him, and will be missed beyond measure. Chris was a lifelong resident of California, having grown up in San Carlos. He attended Sacred Heart High School, where he not only formed lifelong friendships but also nurtured his love for baseball. His talent and dedication propelled him to pursue his passion for baseball at St. Mary's College of Moraga, where he graduated and notably excelled as a pitcher for the college team. After graduating, he found success and fulfillment at Virgo Investment Group, where he dedicated twelve years to leading their marketing and investor relations efforts alongside a team he considered family. Chris met the love of his life, Kristie, through her sister and had an instant connection. They built a beautiful and loving life together and were blessed with two wonderful sons. Chris and Kristie loved each other deeply and enjoyed many years of precious moments and adventures together. Chris embraced life with enthusiasm, cherishing his passions for sports and photography. He utilized his love for photography to capture iconic moments of all of his favorite Bay Area sports teams including the San Francisco 49ers, Golden State Warriors and San Francisco Giants. This year, he had the privilege of attending the Super Bowl to cheer on his Niners with his best friends and wife. Chris had a natural ability to connect with people - he never encountered a stranger. His genuine spirit and bright smile left a lasting impact on countless individuals, and he was adored by everyone who knew him. He was an incredibly dedicated father, and coached Tee-Ball in the Walnut Creek Little League for the past 2 years. His genuine kindness, loyalty, humor and love touched the lives of all who knew him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him. In a last message to his family, he said that 41 years was too short, but he felt like he won at life! Chris' first priority was always his family. He adored his family, and his friends that he considered family, and there is nothing he would not do for them. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, son, brother, uncle, teammate and friend. Chris leaves behind his cherished wife Kristie Mezzavilla; sons, Luca, age five and Leo, age two years; his parents, Robert and Edith Mezzavilla; sister Melissa Mezzavilla; Uncles Ronald Mezzavilla and Michael Schwarz; Aunt Barbara Schwarz; mother-in-law Kathleen Flatley, brother-in-laws Alex Flatley and Jolon Staubli and sister-in-law, Nicole Staubli; his niece, Isabella Staubli; and nephews, Liam and Everett Staubil and countless friends that he considered family. In honoring Christopher Michael Mezzavilla's memory, we will host a funeral mass held at Sacred Heart Chapel on Saturday, May 11th at 1:30 PM. Celebration of Life will follow. A private burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Menlo Park on Monday, May 13th at 11:30 AM.
